Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights
This is a natural electrical phenomenon characterised by the appearance of streamers of reddish or greenish lights in the sky.
The best time to see the Northern Lights is between November and January. A clear, dark night is needed, and that’s what may be achieved here at Windhaven.
We are the most Northerly Cafe, Camping and B&B on the UK mainland. So if you’d like to see the wonders of the lights, pop in and spend a night.
A visual is not guaranteed, but worth taking the chance.
Here are some pictures taken by our neighbour Keith Parkes (www.keithparkes.com, he is a magnificent artisan in wood and worth a visit).
These pictures were taken up at Dunnet Head, only three miles away. I hope you enjoy them.
